When is Camp Abilities Saratoga held?
The camp is generally held during the first week of August.
What is the cost to attend Camp Abilities Saratoga?
There is no charge to attend. The camp relies on donations and grants to enable campers to attend at no cost.
What adapted sports are expected to be offered?
It is anticipated that the following adapted sports will be offered:
- Swimming
- Beep Baseball
- Track and Field
- Tandem Bicycling
- Goalball
- Soccer
- Disc Golf
What special programs are being offered?
Off campus, special programs vary from year to year but campers have participated in the following special programs during previous camps:
- Horseback Riding given by Rolling Oaks Stables
- Standup Paddle Boarding given by Southern Tier Stand Up Paddle Corp.
- Ice Skating by Saratoga Ice Stars
- Saratoga Ninja Lab
Who teaches the campers?
The staff of Camp Abilities Saratoga features a Camp Director with credentials in Adapted Physical Education along with an expert in each adapted sport being offered. The camp features a 1 to 1 counselor to camper ratio on an as appropriate basis. Camp counselors are usually college interns involved in the Adapted Physical Education field.
What special events will there be for the campers?
Saratoga Springs in August is a pretty exciting place. Activities may include:
- A picnic at the Spa State Park
- A dance at Skidmore College
- A talent show
